DETAIL DESIGN OF MECHANICAL, STRUCTURAL, AND GROUNDING SYSTEMS

This project involved the expansion of our client's lime plant in the Southern United States. This expansion included the installation of a new Kiln and associated systems. Industrial Ally was responsible for the Mechanical and Structural design, as well as the Grounding design, of the Stone Receiving, Stone Yard/Reclaim Tunnel, Stone Silos, Kiln Exhaust Duct/Stack, Blower House/Kiln Platforms, Personnel Elevator, Lime Kiln Dust and Run of Kiln areas. This design scope included all general arrangement, structural concrete, conveyor foundations, structural steel, silo interfaces, transfer chutes and dedusting duct. Weekly progress and coordination telecon meetings were held with the client staff throughout the project to update and coordinate the design progress and to continuously align design effort. Industrial Ally specified all equipment, solicited bids, performed bid evaluation, and had significant collaboration with equipment vendors and our client throughout the approval process to ensure delivery of accurate certified drawings. The primary challenge was maintaining the schedule of issued for construction drawings through the lengthy procurement process as construction of the Kiln/Blower House area was underway at the beginning of this design scope. Industrial Ally worked in close coordination with our client and suppliers to stay ahead of the construction schedule. Safety, Maintenance, Access, Constructability, and Coordination (SMACC™) reviews at the 0%, 30% and 75% point of detailed design completion ensured all scope refinements were captured and detailed as planned.
